THE BIRTH OF COLOURS out now!

Finally all elements combined in one cycle. I’m proud to announce that my new EP THE BIRTH OF COLOURS, a selection of new pieces based on musical colour composing, is out today. During the last 6 months I released 1 element of the cycle, each named after the colour it was written on and representing one element of our planet threatened by climate change. Thank you for being part of this journey, for liking, sharing, listening. Especially now that we have the world standing still.

I’m going to spend a part of the revenue to a climate protection program. Do let me know about any :) For those of you who want more infos about the project, visit my website (link in bio) to download a digital booklet.

Thank you to Maxi Menot for her producing and technical and artistic guidance in that project, to Edition B+/Guesstimate Publishing and everyone who helped giving birth to that project. Keep safe and hear you all soon.

MIMOSA and MIMOSA SHEET MUSIC out now!

Mimosa is the 5th piece of the upcoming EP The Birth of Colours of synesthete composer Kaleidoscope of Colours. After Almond (Mother Earth), Porcelain (Glaciers), Moon Rock (Mountains) and Cedar (Forest), the beautiful, sensitive piano solo melody represents the next element, threatened by climate change: the flowers, which show an alarming decrease in the blooming. And because the Mimosa is one of the most sensitive flowers on earth the piece is also related to the composers highly sensitive nature.

Play it!

Mimosa is available as sheet music now through my online shop! The intimate piano solo melody, which starts with a minimalistic left hand pattern is added by several nuances in the right hand melody slowly building up until it finally escalates into a colorful landscape for both hands.  Mimosa is for intermediate level.

A part of the EP´s revenue will be donated to selected climate protection programs.

Listen to Mimosa here.

CEDAR out now!

What do you get when you combine the heartbeat and breath of one of the densest and most pristine forests in northeast Germany with piano? Exactly! CEDAR!

Emerging from the cedar-colored scale of the synesthetic composer Kaleidoscope of Colours, CEDAR presents the second multi-instrumental piece on the upcoming EP THE BIRTH OF COLOURS. Percussive piano meets Schiller and Thomas Newman and has an important message: with each of the released singles, the composer not only presents the corresponding colour scale of the piece, but also draws attention to an element threatened by climate change and donates a part of the revenue to climate protection projects.

After Mother Earth (ALMOND), the glaciers (PORCELAIN) and our mountains (MOON ROCK), now the fourth threatened element of our planet: the forests of our earth, which are important oxygen suppliers.

Listen to Cedar here.

PORCELAIN out now!

I’m proud to announce that my second single and first multi-instrumental piece PORCELAIN is out today. PORCELAIN is continuing a second colour cycle, the EP „THE BIRTH OF COLOURS, a selection of pieces that not only take the audience back my world of crossed senses, but also reminds us of the beauty and fragility of our nature, of the elements of our planet that are not infinite and that we have taken for granted for far too long.

PORCELAIN not just stands for its porcelain blue coloured scale it was written on, but also for the second element of the cycle - Glaciers & Ice.

I went to record sounds of lake Stechlin, the clearest sea in northern Germany, lying in one of the most beautiful landscapes in North - Eastern Germany.

I’m going to spent a part of the whole EP´s revenue to selected climate change programs.

I hope you enjoy it!

Special thanks to Maxi Menot for producing

SCARLET RELEASE 23.11.

With a fragile, gentle melody interwoven into a neo-impressionistic frame, Scarlet is the 4. single release of Berlin based, synesthetic composer Kaleidoscope of Colours. It gives the audience a final taste of her upcoming album Music & Colours, a collection of musical fragments, that are based on colour composing. And as you would imagined to look at an impressionist painting, the tune reveals small touches of colours, completing the pieces' broader colour nature - this time the fierce and firing colour of scarlet.

Release "Yellow"

My single "Yellow" is out since November, 9th.

After „Shades of Brown“ and „Midnight Blue“, „Yellow“ is the 3. single release of Berlin based, synesthetic composer Kaleidoscope of Colours. As part of the upcoming album „Music & Colours“, the piece represents a fragile melody wrapped into the warm base lines of contemporary piano sounds, while taking the listener on a refreshing journey through the leaves of the fall. It is a further move to make the world of sound visible by combining colours with melodies influenced by some of todays' greatest post minimalist composers.

"The Colour of Bee Larkham's Murder" published

I'm so intrigued and excited! Just started reading this fantastic novel "The Colour of Bee Larkham's Murder" by British author Sarah J. Harris.     Harris’ first adult novel tells the story of thirteen-year-old Jasper, who has synesthesia and lives in a world of dazzling colour that no one else can see. Words, numbers, music, days of the week, people’s voices – everything has its unique shade. But recently Jasper’s seen a colour he doesn’t like or understand: the colour of murder. The novel has been published by  renowned UK publisher HarperCollins UK and Touchstone US.

I was asked to help Sarah creating her main character by counseling her regarding my synesthetic perception of certain situations Jasper finds himself into.

New results in synesthesia research

A team led by neuroscientist Simon Fisher at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, has discovered that synesthesia may be the the result from hyperconnected neurons. Using a new technique, the team extracted 37 genes that predicted whether family members inherited synesthesia. Apparently there is no single "synesthesia gene" or a set of genes, but 6 of the variants they found were related to the development of connections between neurons known as axons, which are expressed  in both the auditory and visual cortices of the brain during childhood development.

Previous brain imaging studies of synesthetes had suggested that they might have an abnormally high number of neuronal connections. The new research suggests that an unusually high degree of connectivity in certain brain regions might predispose people to have synesthesia.

"Make it a game! The Kolletzki case" is a collaborative novella, I have co-written with friends. What began in December 2016 as an experiment between four writers  - 24 chapters on 24 days -, quickly became psychological thriller. Step by step or better day by day we wrote a story that is based in Berlin, revealing many funny characters an a landlord, who turned out to be ... shhh, we won´t spoil that!

Now we revealed the whole process of writing and how we overcame obstacles in writing, as we all had day jobs to manage.

"Make it a game" is a creative game for people who want to discover the joy of writing.
